See My Wardrobe…Sarah reveals her wardrobe favourites

Monday, November 21st, 2011

NAME: Sarah Goodwin

AGE : 23

LOCATION: London

OCCUPATION: Social Media Executive for Miss Patina independent fashion label

WEBSITE: www.seemywardrobe.com

TWITTER: @miss_patina

Q – Hello how are you today?

A – Great! I have just returned from a trip to Paris. It was really inspirational – the Parisians certainly have a distinct and sophisticated style. I love that they are so understated and all about good quality clothing. I spent many hours people-watching and drinking chocolat viennois (hot chocolate with whipped cream – yum).

Stolen Thunder…

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s current collection?

A – I am torn between two – the gold rose ring and the typewriter necklace. Both are very antique inspired and ornate. Being a journalist, the typewriter appeals to my personality and the ring appeals to the more romantic side of me.

Q- What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A –I would wear an off the shoulder fitted grey top with black leather pants and ankle boots – simple and edgy. And then style it up with some layered jewellery such as the wishbone necklace and the horseshoe necklace together and on my fingers wear the wishbone ring and the snake ring. Very rock chick indeed.

Q – What do you most enjoy about being a fashion blogger?

A –I love that I am solely representing my opinion and my view of the world – whether I am inspired by film, music, travel or street style. I choose the content and there is no pressure. Writing is a very enjoyable experience for me so people reading and liking the blog is just an added bonus!

Style and Fashion…

Q – What is the best piece of fashion advice you have received?

A – Dress for your shape. I think that is the most basic but important advice – you can’t beat yourself up if a certain trend or look doesn’t suit you. Fashion is so versatile and there are so many looks – find what works for you.

Q- Who is your style icon and why?

A – Olivia Palermo because she has that Upper East Side NYC polished look yet she gives it an edge with unusual accessories and colour combinations. Also she is not afraid of bright colours and patterns which so many people can be.

Q – What key pieces do you think every girl needs in her wardrobe?

A – A great fitted blazer, a leather jacket, skinny jeans, leather trousers, a black dress, oversized shirt, black ankle boots and a big clutch bag. Now you can mix and match all these depending on the occasion!

Q-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A – I really love city lifestyle – fast paced and bustling. It inspires me every day – big cities make you feel independent and confident. I moved to London from Ireland so it is a dream for me to live here. After this, New York perhaps!

Q – What piece of clothing/jewellery could you not live without?

A – I love to buy big statement necklaces and at the moment I have one from Topshop that is really cool – silver, gold and ivory detail. It can really funk up a simple jumper or top and makes an outfit more memorable. For now, this is my “cannot live without” piece but it constantly changes.

Q – If you could be any animal for the day what would you choose to be and why?

A – I would choose to be a white tiger because they are so beautiful and regal. Also because the female tiger plays a very important role in her group guarding the territory and minding the cubs. She is seen as strong and intelligent by the male tigers and thus is very powerful.

Q – If you’ve had a bad day :-( what song will make you smile :-) again?

A – Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra. It’s also on the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which is one of my favourite films.

My Day…

Q – Send us a picture from your day

A – I just got back from Paris so here is a photo I took this morning of a patisserie (cake shop). I love how the French have shops for everything – no generic shops with a bit of everything like in the UK – all their shops are very specialist.

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A – Where does thunder go once it’s been stolen?

A – We turbo charge it and send it back! x

Laura Budd talks Jelly Beans, Gin and A Daisy Chain Dream…

Monday, November 7th, 2011

NAME: Laura

AGE : 24

LOCATION: Just outside of Bristol

WEBSITE:  http://www.adaisychaindream.blogspot.com

Q – Hello how are you today?

A – Hello right back! I’m pretty fabulous, thank you.

STOLEN THUNDER JEWELLERY AND COCKTAILS…

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s current collection?

A – It has to be (and always has been) the “I heart gin” necklace. It’s just so true.

Stolen Thunder wooden I love gin necklace

Q - What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A – I’d style a cocktail dress and a pair of glittery heels with the “I heart gin” necklace. Accessorised with a gin + tonic, naturally

Q- What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?

A – I’m not a cocktail drinker as such, however I am rather fond of one called Pink Lemonade, which is vodka,Chambord, cherry juice, lemon juice and fresh raspberries, served over tonnes of crushed ice. I can drink far, far too many of them. It’s just too easy.

Q- Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A – My favourite boutique is probably not a boutique as such, but it’s called BS8 and located onPark Street in Bristol.

Q- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A –Austria. A random choice perhaps, but I visited once in the summertime and it was just so beautiful. I fancy myself in a chalet style home in the hills with no-one but my distant neighbours to hear me yodel.

STYLE ICONS AND WARDROBE ESSENTIALS…

Q- Who is your style icon?

A – Fellow bloggers. There are just too many snazzy dressers to mention.

Q - What are your wardrobe essentials?

A – Dresses, specifically floral dresses. They are so versatile, either with bright tights and fun shoes for weekends and shopping, or plain tights and flats for work. Well cut jeans are also essential (although I fail on finding that perfect pair), some good quality plain t-shirts and a pair of converse.

Q – How many pairs of shoes do you own?

A – Ahem, on last check it was about 50

Q – What are your favourite sweets?

A – I love all sweets equally, I am totally sugar addicted. I guess, if pushed, I would pick jelly beans.

Q – If you’ve had a bad day :-( what song will make you smile :-) again?

A – Queen; don’t stop me now. It’s a cheery old kick up the ass.

MY DAY…

Q – Send us a picture from your day

A – I’m sending a picture of my ace new shoes, they are pleasing me greatly.

A Daisy Chain Dream - Laura My Day

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A – Oh so many questions. I’ll go with where does inspiration for your designs come from?

A - Our current collection is based on England rich heritage of jewellery making.

Stolen Thunder to launch new vintage boutique . .

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Stolen Thunder online vintage clothing company

Stolen Thunder’s top vintage picks . .

Joy and I are totally bonkers about vintage clothing and accessories. I’d say my wardrobe is 80% vintage. My passion for vintage came from raiding my Mum’s fantastic wardobe (think 60′s 70′s and well I cherry picked the 80′s) My main love is for vintage leather belts, bags and accessories.  The belts at the top of the posts are so special to me and I wear them all the time. My fave is the blue suede one with the massive enamel horse buckle!

The Glossy Guide talks Stolen Thunder, Fashion, Jewellery and London

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Q – Hello how are you today?

A - Really good – spending my day off relaxing after a party last night on a Thames river boat – London looks amazing at night!

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s Heritage collection?

A – The Wishbone necklace – so simple and elegant!

Gold Wishbone necklace from Stolen Thunder

Q- What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A - Black dress, tights, high black shoes and my big black floppy felt hat I recently got. Then I’d layer on charm necklaces playing with chain lengths for a nice effect. Some of the rings in the collection are amazing, but I’m not really a ring person so I’d thread them onto some of the chains too. I’d also experiment with wrapping chains from the charm necklaces round my wrists and bracelets.

Q- Can you describe your blog using 4 words beginning with the letters B.L.O.G?

B: Basic. I thought long and hard about my layout, and played around with so many fun and interesting designs but in the end I decided to go for something simple and basic so I could let the content to the talking!

L: London. As my blog is a lot about my life, even before I moved here when I was just visiting I noticed how the city is gradually seeping into my blog!

O: Original. I’m big on original content, so almost all of the photos and words I use are my own!

G: Growing. I’m always coming up with new and exciting ideas to expand my blog, which I can’t wait to share with everyone!

Q- What do you enjoy most about blogging?

A - The sense of community. I have met so many amazing people blogging and made some amazing friends!

Fabulous Festival Memories from Stolen Thunder HQ …

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

As autumn is officially here, it’s time to look back and reminisce about the best of summer music. This year I made it to three music festivals; Parklife in Manchester was the first. Around 15,000 people headed down to Platt Fields Park; I have never seen so many folk sporting wellington boots and rain coats in Manchester before.

Get your festival fashion working for you…

The water proofs were all needed though as the downpours of rain (and hail) were relentless for the majority of the weekend!! My favourite acts of this two day festival were Two Door Cinema Club, Kelis and Darwin Deez, the performances were incredible. The dance moves in particular provided by Darwin Deez were unreal, those boys certainly know how to entertain and please the crowd!

Derbyshire’s top indie festival Y not . .

Y Not Festival the next festival on the agenda; this again was a huge success! All head lining acts on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday were magnificent. I had wanted to see Maxïmo Park for years, and finally my dream came true on the final night of the festival and just as I had imagined they did not disappoint! With my bird’s eye view from my friend’s shoulders I got to see some of my all time favourite songs; Apply Some Pressure, Our Velocity and Books from Boxes. The classic Maxïmo Park hits that I was desperate to see live were all performed and were a MASSIVE hit with the crowd, it was unreal listening to about 5,000 festival goers sing along with Paul Smith, me included!

Pulp headline Leeds festival . . .

And then there was Pulp! Leeds Festival was my final summer music festival destination; I only went for the one day this being Sunday, fortunately for me I managed to avoid the rain and arrived just in time to get the sunglasses on and enjoy the beautiful day. My time was spent in front of the main stage and inside the Radio One tent, these two stages were where I got to witness Seasick Steve, Two Door Cinema Club (who were again a crowd pleaser with their catchy tunes) Everything Everything, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Strokes and last but certainly not least, Pulp. Watching Jarvis Cocker perform the classics ‘Common People’ and ‘Year 2000’ definitely comes into my top ten moments of all time! An unforgettable time was most certainly had.

Stolen Thunder's top festival memories, what are you top festival memories.

Tell Stolen Thunder about your favourite festival memories . . .

What festivals did you go to? Who played the best set of your summer? Leave me a comment below, I’d love to hear from you . . .
