Our Label Love this week is Not For Ponies!

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Hi everyone!

Whilst looking around at our next door neighbours on ASOS Marketplace I couldn’t help but notice Not For Ponies. They are quite possibly one of the brightest and quirkiest UK indie fashion brands and are run by designer Beckie Andrews who draws, designs and makes the collection in Manchester.

Beckie’s aim of the brand is for it to be ‘happy and uplifting at a time that seems to be full of doom and gloom’. With Not For Ponies latest Autumn Winter collection featuring pugs, pipes and moustaches, I think she can say she has accomplished her mission!

In honour of our pug team member Punch, we are big fans of the little angel pug T Shirt! I also love the men’s King pug with his pipe T Shirt (very Punch)! Their range doesn’t just include clothing but also gifts, greeting cards and children’s clothing so worth a look whilst trying to find those quirky Christmas presents!

That is your Label Love for this week, see you next Friday!

This weeks Label Love is… Rapanui!

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Hi everyone,

Here at Stolen Thunder we are big supporters of indie labels, being one ourselves we love to find brands who are in the same boat as us. This week I came across Rapanui who could potentially a revolutionary label for the fashion industry.

Rapanui were formed in 2008 by Rob and Martin Drake-Knight who have created a casual wear brand which is not only on trend but all of their products are from sustainable materials. Rapanui use ethically accredited factories that are powered by wind and solar energy and with radical eco-textiles they have created guilt free fashion! Every Rapanui item can be traced from the sewn seed to its final shop destination by using their trace mapping tool on their website.

Rapanui have also developed an eco-labelling system which is an ingenious concept. Similar to the content labeling you find on food, you are are able to see just how sustainable the clothing is your buying by looking at their A-G rating label. More information on this initiative can be found here http://www.rapanuiclothing.com/ethical-fashion/eco-labelling-clothing.html.

My favourite piece from the Rapanui collection is the ‘Save Our Seas’ t shirt which is made from super soft Bamboo and 50% of profits from its sales go to the Marine Conservation Society!  This t shirt would look great with our Nautical Sailboat and Anchor earrings and also with our Anchor Brooch for full on nautical chic!!

So this weekend think of your clothing like your diet, by buying a piece of Rapanui goodness and cut out buying the junk fast fashion!

See you next week,

Laura

A Fearne Cotton inspired outfit featuring our Gold Wishbone Ring

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011
Fearne Cotton Inspired Outfit

Fearne Cotton’s Gold Wishbone Ring . .

Hi everyone!

To celebrate the lovely Fearne Cotton being spotted wearing our gorgeous Gold Wishbone ring, I have created a Fearne inspired outfit using a selection of our favourite UK brands.  Our Wishbone ring can be worn with any outfit making it a must have accessory. Fearne clearly loves her new Gold Wishbone ring as she has been wearing it for her daytime and evening looks as seen at the recent Michael Jackson Tribute Concert.

Bag a slice of Fearne Cotton’s style  . .

Fearne likes her “boyfriend look” and Annie Greenabelle offer a perfect white oversize circle sleeve shirt in their AW11 collection. This shirt would look great with a pair of super skinny Monkee Genes and a pair of leopard print Una Shoes by Dr Marten. The key jacket this season is a wax jacket and there is no better brand than Barbour to get yours from. To complete the look, add a distressed red leather Zatchel satchel for your essentials and an Alphabet Bags tote for your daily junk!

If you have spotted a celeb wearing one of our jewellery pieces please let us know!

This weeks’ Label Love is Annie Greenabelle!

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Hi everyone catch up on this week’s label love!

Here at Stolen Thunder we love ethical fashion and this week for our Label Love I have picked one of the best independent ethical fashion labels around and they are Annie Greenabelle.

With the high street saturated with cheap fabrics and fast fashion, Annie Greenabelle present a range of clothing which is mostly made of organic and Fairtrade certified cotton. These fabrics are used with reclaimed and end of roll fabrics which makes Annie Greenabelle clothing truly unique. As well as great quality fabrics, their collection is on trend and affordable, enabling ethical fashion to be accessible to all us fashionistas!

Stolen Thunder’s top picks

A key item this season is the pussy bow blouse and Annie Greenabelle have created the perfect on trend item which also has a hint of vintage chic. It would look great dressed up tucked into a knee length pencil skirt or perhaps dressed down with a pair of skinny jeans. I also love Annie Greenabelle’s dresses, my favourite is this black and floral shift dress and I would style it with a sleeveless Peter Pan collar shirt underneath to give it an on trend edge! This dress comes in different colours and fabrics and would pair nicely with our Gold Horseshoe Necklace!

My advice this weekend is to avoid trawling the shops in the freezing cold, grab a brew and get onto the Annie Greenabelle website to find that perfect outfit accessorized with a piece of Stolen Thunder of course ;)

See you next week!

This weeks Label Love is Zatchels!

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Hi everyone,

One of the key accessories this year is the satchel and one brand who has one of the best ranges are Zatchels who are this weeks’ Label Love!

Zatchel’s are just about able to offer any design of satchel you could ever dream of! There is a satchel to suit every outfit, be it metallic, animal print, polka dot, tartan or just a plain block colour you will not be disappointed! Once you have spent an hour trying to pick your favourite design you can then choose the size and you can have a handle added as an optional extra to be bang on trend!

What I love about Zatchels is that all their bags are made in the UK which is now extremely rare due to the mass produced fashion from overseas competition. The satchels are made of leather and are handstitched, giving you the reassurance of excellent quality and a bag you can enjoy for many years to come!

The bags have been bought by celebs such as Jessie J and Kelly Rowland and featured in many magazines including Grazia and Look. Zatchels are also sold in Libertys making them our Love Label to watch!

So this weekend brighten up your office wardrobe and purchase a Zatchel!

See you next week for more Label Loveliness!

Laura x

P.S Look out for a Thunder Thursday competition coming soon featuring a fab Zatchel bag!

Our Label Love today is Monkee Genes!

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Hi everyone!

Autumn has finally arrived and our mini heatwave is over, so it is time to bring back out the jeans! So for our Label Love this week we have picked our favourite jeans label, Monkee Genes.

Monkee Genes were formed in 2006 as a fashion forward label offering jeans which are not only able to offer excellent quality of fit but are also organic and from start to finish have been made by workers who have been paid a decent living wage.

Monkee Genes are unique as they are the only jeans label to be certified by The Soil Association organic standards and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). There doesn’t seem to be any faults to pick with this label and their range of jeans is extensive!

Taking into account this seasons’ trends, my pick of the best are the Organic Plum Skinny Jeans which are a key colour for AW11, the 70’s trend from Spring Summer has continued into this season so add a pair of Bamboo Denim Booty Jeans to your wardrobe and finally the Camo Jungle Skinny Jeans just because you’ll stand out from the crowd!

That’s your Label Love fix for this week! Enjoy your weekend!

Laura x

Label Love, first up Alphabet Bags!

Friday, September 30th, 2011
Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend! Fashion Fridays are going to bring to you the best independent British fashion brands in our Label Love feature. So if you are a fashion brand who would like to be featured or have found a must have fashion brand please email me at labellove@stolenthunderboutique.com.

This week our Label Love is Alphabet Bags.

Alphabet Bags was set up by Hayley and Lucas in 2008 and over the past few years they have created a range of fun and quirky bags, card holders, purses and washbags. Alphabet Bags have been featured in a variety of magazines and on celebs such as Una Healy and Alexandra Burke making them a clearly Loved Label!

They offer a range of bags to suit your mood and style! Be it your initial or a slogan, my favourites being ‘geek’ and ‘drama queen’ (not personally linked to me of course *cough*).  So this week buy an Alphabet Bag and make someone smile whilst doing the weekly shop!

See you next Friday!
