Q – Hello how are you today?

A – Great! I have just returned from a trip to Paris. It was really inspirational – the Parisians certainly have a distinct and sophisticated style. I love that they are so understated and all about good quality clothing. I spent many hours people-watching and drinking chocolat viennois (hot chocolate with whipped cream – yum).

Stolen Thunder…

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s current collection?

A – I am torn between two – the gold rose ring and the typewriter necklace. Both are very antique inspired and ornate. Being a journalist, the typewriter appeals to my personality and the ring appeals to the more romantic side of me.

Q- What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A –I would wear an off the shoulder fitted grey top with black leather pants and ankle boots – simple and edgy. And then style it up with some layered jewellery such as the wishbone necklace and the horseshoe necklace together and on my fingers wear the wishbone ring and the snake ring. Very rock chick indeed.

Q – What do you most enjoy about being a fashion blogger?

A –I love that I am solely representing my opinion and my view of the world – whether I am inspired by film, music, travel or street style. I choose the content and there is no pressure. Writing is a very enjoyable experience for me so people reading and liking the blog is just an added bonus!

Style and Fashion…

Q – What is the best piece of fashion advice you have received?

A – Dress for your shape. I think that is the most basic but important advice – you can’t beat yourself up if a certain trend or look doesn’t suit you. Fashion is so versatile and there are so many looks – find what works for you.

Q- Who is your style icon and why?

A – Olivia Palermo because she has that Upper East Side NYC polished look yet she gives it an edge with unusual accessories and colour combinations. Also she is not afraid of bright colours and patterns which so many people can be.

Q – What key pieces do you think every girl needs in her wardrobe?

A – A great fitted blazer, a leather jacket, skinny jeans, leather trousers, a black dress, oversized shirt, black ankle boots and a big clutch bag. Now you can mix and match all these depending on the occasion!

Q-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A – I really love city lifestyle – fast paced and bustling. It inspires me every day – big cities make you feel independent and confident. I moved to London from Ireland so it is a dream for me to live here. After this, New York perhaps!

Q – What piece of clothing/jewellery could you not live without?

A – I love to buy big statement necklaces and at the moment I have one from Topshop that is really cool – silver, gold and ivory detail. It can really funk up a simple jumper or top and makes an outfit more memorable. For now, this is my “cannot live without” piece but it constantly changes.

Q – If you could be any animal for the day what would you choose to be and why?

A – I would choose to be a white tiger because they are so beautiful and regal. Also because the female tiger plays a very important role in her group guarding the territory and minding the cubs. She is seen as strong and intelligent by the male tigers and thus is very powerful.

Q – If you’ve had a bad day :-( what song will make you smile :-) again?

A – Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra. It’s also on the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which is one of my favourite films.

My Day…

Q – Send us a picture from your day

A – I just got back from Paris so here is a photo I took this morning of a patisserie (cake shop). I love how the French have shops for everything – no generic shops with a bit of everything like in the UK – all their shops are very specialist.

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A – Where does thunder go once it’s been stolen?

A – We turbo charge it and send it back! x

Q – Hello how are you today?

A – Hello right back! I’m pretty fabulous, thank you.

STOLEN THUNDER JEWELLERY AND COCKTAILS…

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s current collection?

A – It has to be (and always has been) the “I heart gin” necklace. It’s just so true.

Stolen Thunder wooden I love gin necklace

Q - What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A – I’d style a cocktail dress and a pair of glittery heels with the “I heart gin” necklace. Accessorised with a gin + tonic, naturally

Q- What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?

A – I’m not a cocktail drinker as such, however I am rather fond of one called Pink Lemonade, which is vodka,Chambord, cherry juice, lemon juice and fresh raspberries, served over tonnes of crushed ice. I can drink far, far too many of them. It’s just too easy.

Q- Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A – My favourite boutique is probably not a boutique as such, but it’s called BS8 and located onPark Street in Bristol.

Q- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A –Austria. A random choice perhaps, but I visited once in the summertime and it was just so beautiful. I fancy myself in a chalet style home in the hills with no-one but my distant neighbours to hear me yodel.

STYLE ICONS AND WARDROBE ESSENTIALS…

Q- Who is your style icon?

A – Fellow bloggers. There are just too many snazzy dressers to mention.

Q - What are your wardrobe essentials?

A – Dresses, specifically floral dresses. They are so versatile, either with bright tights and fun shoes for weekends and shopping, or plain tights and flats for work. Well cut jeans are also essential (although I fail on finding that perfect pair), some good quality plain t-shirts and a pair of converse.

Q – How many pairs of shoes do you own?

A – Ahem, on last check it was about 50

Q – What are your favourite sweets?

A – I love all sweets equally, I am totally sugar addicted. I guess, if pushed, I would pick jelly beans.

Q – If you’ve had a bad day :-( what song will make you smile :-) again?

A – Queen; don’t stop me now. It’s a cheery old kick up the ass.

MY DAY…

Q – Send us a picture from your day

A – I’m sending a picture of my ace new shoes, they are pleasing me greatly.

A Daisy Chain Dream - Laura My Day

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A – Oh so many questions. I’ll go with where does inspiration for your designs come from?

A - Our current collection is based on England rich heritage of jewellery making.

Q – Hello how are you today?

A - Really good – spending my day off relaxing after a party last night on a Thames river boat – London looks amazing at night!

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s Heritage collection?

A – The Wishbone necklace – so simple and elegant!

Gold Wishbone necklace from Stolen Thunder

Q- What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A - Black dress, tights, high black shoes and my big black floppy felt hat I recently got. Then I’d layer on charm necklaces playing with chain lengths for a nice effect. Some of the rings in the collection are amazing, but I’m not really a ring person so I’d thread them onto some of the chains too. I’d also experiment with wrapping chains from the charm necklaces round my wrists and bracelets.

Q- Can you describe your blog using 4 words beginning with the letters B.L.O.G?

B: Basic. I thought long and hard about my layout, and played around with so many fun and interesting designs but in the end I decided to go for something simple and basic so I could let the content to the talking!

L: London. As my blog is a lot about my life, even before I moved here when I was just visiting I noticed how the city is gradually seeping into my blog!

O: Original. I’m big on original content, so almost all of the photos and words I use are my own!

G: Growing. I’m always coming up with new and exciting ideas to expand my blog, which I can’t wait to share with everyone!

Q- What do you enjoy most about blogging?

A - The sense of community. I have met so many amazing people blogging and made some amazing friends!

Fashion Blogger Mia Holt reveals her Fashion.Life!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

NAME: Mia Holt

AGE: 20 years young

LOCATION: Cardiff

OCCUPATION: Journalism Student and Fashion Blogger

WEBSITE: http://fashionbymimi.blogspot.com/

Q – Hello how are you today?

A – Hello lovely, I am very good today thanks. Incredibly busy but very happy.

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s current collection?

A – Can I say everything? Haha. Well as a journalist and a blogger, I was inspired by the Typewriter necklace in the Heritage collection. It’s beautiful and would suit my personality so much. It’s so dainty and my love for small and sweet jewellery meant I was instantly drawn to this piece.

Q – How would you describe your blog in 3 words?

A – Wow. Hard. Urm, I would say fun, insightful and relaxed.

Q – What do you most enjoy about blogging?

A – To me, blogging is the perfect way to express your love of something with others. I have always know that I wanted to be a writer, so I started my blog as a way of showing people the type of things that I have written about in the past. I only started it in July this year but I’ve received so much feedback and had the opportunity to interview some amazing people like E4s Dirty Sexy Thing’s model Charlotte de Carle and the designer House of Sunny. I love reading comments from people who are interested in the industry and so I’d probably say that I love the response that I get from doing something I love.

Q- What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A – I think Stolen Thunder jewellery would add a quirky style to any outfit. When I saw the Kite necklace from the original collection, I fell in love with it! It would look so beautiful with a sweet little shift dress and some Chelsea boots. I love mixing feminine chic with a masculine edge so teaming the cute necklace with a dress and some boots would be gorgeous!

Q – If you could choose anyone, past or present to blog, who would it be?

A – It would have to be Audrey Hepburn. She has been my style icon since I was a little girl and I think she was just the most amazing person. Her life and her way of thinking was so delightful. She was such an inspirational person and I try and pride myself on sharing her manners and beliefs.

Q- Who is your style icon?

A – I have many, but my favourite would have to be Whitney Port. She always looks amazing and I would die for her wardrobe!

Q – What piece of clothing/jewellery could you not live without?

A – My pearls. I am an avid pearl lover. My mother always says that pearls are a parting gift but my boyfriend bought me some for our first Christmas and we are still together. They are so elegant and instantly add some femininity to any outfit.

Q – What is the best piece of fashion advice you have received?

A – Probably to be unique. It may sound like a cliché but it’s the best advice I’ve ever been give. I think it’s important to find your own personal style. Sometimes, you will make mistakes and look back at an outfit and think “oh my gosh, what on earth” but it means you learn what suits you and your body. If you experiment and try different styles, then eventually, you will learn what suits your shape and your personality.

Q – If you’ve had a bad day what song will make you smile  again?

A – My best friend is the most amazing person you’ll ever meet. Her name is Jodie and she always manages to cheer me up. When I was having a down day one day, she sent me this song- Baz Lahrmann- Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen. It’s so inspiration and always makes me happy!

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A – I would love to know where you guys get your inspiration from to make such gorgeous pieces?

A – ST > From our wonderful home in Derbyshire!

Love Mia xxx

Featured fashion blogger: Ayden of Little Blog Of Horrors.

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Our featured blogger Ayden from fashion blog My Doll face

NAME   Ayden

AGE     21

LOCATION  Glasgow, Scotland

OCCUPATION Art Department for Film and Tv

WEBSITE Little Blog Of Horrors

TWITTER  http://twitter.com/#!/hellorogue

Q – Hello how are you today?

A – I am good thank you. Working all weekend… but I actually don’t mind.

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s current collection?

A – So hard to choose just one, but I do have my eyes on the Vintage Rose Bowtie Necklace, it is super cute. And the Raspberry Suede Lucky Charm Bracelet. Adooorable!  (this bow tie necklace is one of our faves too!)

Vintage rose bow tie necklace

Q- What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A – I think I would team up my floral Urban Outfitters playsuit with Stolen Thunders Anchor or Pardon My French brooch pinned to my grey thick knit vintage cardi. I normally pair this with black tights and my Topshop sandshoes. Bit of a mix and match, and I think the Purple Woodland bracelet or White Nautical Bracelet would finish this off nicely :) I think I better start writing my wish list!

Q-What is your favourite cocktail, and how many can your drink!?

A – My favourite is definitely Amaretto Sourz! I can drink as many as my purse allows me to haha. In some places they top it off with Maraschino Cherries – which makes a drunken (and skint) Ayden very happy.

Q-Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A – My favourite boutique is a company called ‘We Are Made In The Shade’ (http://www.wearemadeintheshade.com/about/) They hold lots of different events in Glasgow, as well as having a lovely little shop. They aim to promote quirky indie craft, clothing, and design, while sharing a bit of vintage lifestyle and culture.

Q-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A – I would live somewhere in Cornwall, right by the ocean. I have been there year after year on surfing trips, and the people are just lovely. It really is one of my favourite places to visit. Give me the Cornish coastline and waves for surfing over California any day!

Q- Who is your style icon?

A – I love the styles of Katy Perry, Marina Diamandis, and Fearne Cotton. As a tattooed gal myself, Kat Von D is a real inspiration when it comes to dressing and doing as you please, aslong as you feel happy and comfortable you shouldn’t care too much about what’s “in fashion” or what other people think.

Q – What are your wardrobe essentials?

A –  Cardigans in an array of colours, denim shirts in a few different washes, and grey and black rights! (wooly ones and also the not so wooly ones)

Q – How many pairs of shoes do you own?

A –  Shall I actually go count? Okay…. 16 pairs! That’s not so bad, right?

Q – If you’ve had a bad day what song will make you smile  again?

A – It’s My Life/Confessions by the Glee Cast, or Welcome to the Sixties from the Hairspray Musical Soundtrack. Yes I am the biggest cheese ever, but they never fail to make me want to skip down the street :)

Q – Send us a picture from your day and give us a description below!

A –  I got a little french manicure done on my nails for the first time ever! My job makes it hard to keep my hands and nails in a nice condition, so getting this done on my days off was a real treat. I just hope it lasts and I don’t ruin them any time soon.

ayden from my doll face is our featured fashion blogger

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A –  How long is the whole process on average, from initial design concept right through to final production?

A – Stolen Thunder, crikey – well Joy and I discuss initial ideas and bring sketches etc to design meetings which happen a few times a year for Spring /Summer and Autumn / Winter – we have to make a prototype and test it out – then when we’re happy we go ahead to production. It’s quite a lengthy process!

Fashion blogger interview: Kayla Hadlington

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

This months featured fashion blogger is our scrumptious model Kayla Hadlington.  If you are familiar with Lookbook:Nu you for sure know this girl who mixes kookie charity shop finds, her nana’s old clothes and items she cherry picks from the high street to create an innovative and fashion forward look that is totally her own, we love Kayla and we know you’re going to!

Q – Hello how are you today?

A – I’m really good, I bought some new shoes. They were £5 from a charity shop, therefore I am very happy.

Q- What is your favourite piece from Stolen Thunder’s handmade jewellery current collection?

A – Probably the nautical stud earrings, there so cute! I have a pair myself and I’m wearing them at the moment!

I also really like the anchor necklace and the pardon my French brooch!

Cross stitch brooch Pardon My French

Oh and the ‘I Love Tea’ ring and necklace, because I do love tea very much so.

Hanmade I love tea cros stitch ring

I’d also like to mention that the jewellery smells really nice, kinda like the 3D workshop at my college!

Q – What outfit would you style up using Stolen Thunder Jewellery? (Stolen Thunder jewellery / clothing / shoes etc!)

A – Well, I would probably wear the extremely worn brown vintage leather shoes I bought today, with a floral or brown/ green skirt, maybe even in velvet, thick cotton tights and either a vintage jumper or blouse and the braided leather bracelet with tassels.

Infact, I decided to make something on polyvore to show it a bit better…

Kayla Hadlington styles Stolen Thunder

Q – Where is your favourite boutique, and what is it called?

A – I’m not sure if Urban Outfitters is considered a boutique.. I don’t really shop at any boutiques, mostly just charity shops.. I should really start shopping at more places haha!

Q – If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A – Maybe London, because of all the people there and the places.. and everything moves really fast and you have to keep up with it. It would probably give me some motivation.

Q – Who is your style icon?

A – I don’t really have a style icon… I don’t really find celebrities very inspiring clothes-wise. I guess I get inspiration from other fashion bloggers and people that walk past me when I’m out and about, so anyone really, if they happen to be wearing something I like I always remember it.

Q – What are your wardrobe essentials?

A – Tights, you can never have too many pairs of tights… and a black blazer, because they go with everything.

Q – How many pairs of shoes do you own?

A – Haha I’m not sure, probably around 30, I think, I just tried to count them all in my head because there all in different places in the house.

Q – If you’ve had a bad day what song will make you smile again?

A – All kinds of time – Fountains of Wayne.. I think they use the instrumental bit at the end of Devil Wears Prada :D Actually, I’ve changed my mind… I think Mexican Wine by Fountains of Wayne would be better!

Q – Send us a picture from your day – this can be the view from your window, your pet, your lunch! Please label photo “MY DAY” and send with this piece. Please give us a description below!

Kayla Hadlington Lookbook Nu user My Day

These are my fab new charity shop shoes! Bought today!

Q – What would you like to ask Stolen Thunder?

A – How long does it take to make one of your necklaces?

Hmmm! Well we hand sketch different ideas and tweak and change them until we feel they are just right, then we cut them from wood or whatever we are using and hand assemble them – so they making bit doesn’t take too long but the bit before where we have the seed of an idea to grow can take months!

Love Stolen Thunder x
